Statue of General Robert E. Lee

Statue of General Robert E. Lee

Most striking of all the statuary is the full-length bronze likeness of General Robert E. Lee, created by Rudulph Evans in 1931. The statue was erected where Lee stood on April 23, 1861, when at the age of 54 he accepted command of the military forces of the Commonwealth of Virginia.
