The Nigog Fisherman
In his plans for the Parliament Building, Eugène- Étienne Taché
reserved a key place in the decorative scheme for the first inhabitants of
Québec. Directly in front of the main facade, Louis-Philippe Hébert
placed two bronze sculptures that he modelled and cast in Paris.
Behind the basin of the fountain, The Nigog Fisherman shows a Native
whose feet are bathed by running water as he prepares to spear a fish with
his nigog, a type of harpoon.
