New Haven Green — Flag Pole Memorial Honoring World War I
This 1928 flagpole situated on the center of the New Haven green
honors residents lost in the First World War. A fountain, added in
2003, surrounds the flagpole. A bas-relief depiction of allegorical
and military figures circle around the base of the flagpole.
This monument sits on the 16-acre New Haven Green, which was
established in 1638 for the young colony; it provided a common grazing
yard.
