Adam Mickiewicz Monument

Adam Mickiewicz Monument in Kraków is one of the best known monuments in Poland, and a favourite meeting place in Kraków's Main Square.

The statue of Adam Mickiewicz was unveiled in 1898, on the 100th anniversary of his birth. It was designed by Teodor Rygier, a little known sculptor at the time, who won the competition for this project ahead of renowned painter Jan Matejko.
