Arthur Fiedler Memorial
The Arthur Fiedler Memorial, designed by sculptor
Ralph Helmick and architect Jim
Falck, was dedicated along the Charles River Esplanade
on June 30, 1984. The 6½-foot monumental head of Arthur
Fiedler, the long-time conductor of the Boston Pops
Orchestra, is crafted from eighty-three layers of thin
sand-blasted aluminum plates. The sculpture cost $150,000
and was made possible by donations from individuals and
corporations.
