Fountain at University of Maine Museum of Art
University of Maine Museum of Art (UMMA) is an art
museum in downtown Bangor, Maine. It is part of the
University of Maine, which is located in nearby Orono,
Maine. It was founded as the University of Maine Art
Collection in 1946 by Vincent Hartgen, professor of art at
the university. In the 1980s, it transitioned into the UMMA.
In 2002, the museum moved into Norumbega Hall in Bangor. It
consists of 3,500 original works of art, focusing on
American mid-20th century works on paper.
