Krasinski Palace, Krasinski Square
Known as the "Palace of the Republic". Built in 1677-1683 to
Tylman of Gameren design. One of the largest Baroque palaces in
Warsaw. In 1764, it became the property of the Republic of Poland.
Formerly, it was the seat of the administration authorities, treasury
and the Supreme Court. During World War II, the Palace was burnt down
and partly demolished. Rebuilt after war, it now houses the Special
Collections of the National Library. Nearby there is a garden,
accessible to the public.
