Bath Abbey

Bath Abbey started out as a monastery built in 676 and later played host to the crowning of Edgar, King of Wessex as the first King of England. In 1090, the Abbey was turned into a Norman cathedral priory. However the dissolution of the monasteries led to it being in ruins by 1499. In 1617 it was finally repaired, although by this time it was known as The Parish Church Of Bath. aka The Abbey Church of Saint Peter and Saint Paul, Bath.
