Official Residence of the United States Ambassador
From its commanding location high above the confluence of the
Ottawa and Gatineau Rivers in Ottawa, Ontario, the Residence of the
United States Ambassador to Canada enjoys a breathtaking view of the
distant Gatineau Hills in Québec and one of the choicest residential
settings in Canada's capital city. The 32-room, limestone manor was
built in 1908 by Warren Y. Soper, founder of the Ottawa Electric
Railway Company, and was purchased by the United States Government in
1935.
