Town Hall Tower

On the opposite side of the square from St Mary's church is the Town Hall Tower, all that remains of the Town Hall, pulled down a century ago. This building has acted as the seat of the mayor since the 14th c. A torture chamber and prison were located in the basement which later became known for the sale of Lwidnicki beer: the Burghers of Cracow drank the beer brought in from Lwidnica in Lower Silesia.
