Canal tour
Towers of the Posthoornkerk (Post Horn Church), located in the Jordaan just to the east of Centraal.

Built by P.J.H. Cuypers – the famous architect responsible for Amsterdam’s Central Station and Rijksmuseum – in 1863, the Posthoornkerk (Post Horn Church) is a transept basilica, meaning that the floor plan is laid out in the shape of a cross. The church features a cloverleaf-shared choir and two tiers of galleries.

A landmark in the neighborhood, the Posthoornkerk with its high spires and red/yellow facade can be spotted from far away. Built in 1889 in the Neo-Gothic style, the church was the successor of a hidden church by the same name which was used for Catholic services in the 17th and 18th centuries. As of today, it is a popular venue for many concerts, exhibitions and other such events.
