USS Constellation

An 1854 sloop-of-war. She is the only surviving Civil War-era Naval vessel and the last all-sail warship built by the U.S. Navy. She served her country for over 90 years. During the Civil War, Constellation captured three slave traders and freed over 700 slaves. She later carried famine relief to Ireland and saw duty as a Naval Academy training ship. During World War II, she was the Flag Ship for the Atlantic Fleet and served as the headquarters for the commander of the Altantic War. She was decommissioned in 1946.
